FAQ

What is infant massage?

Infant massage uses gentle, rhythmic touch to promote bonding, relaxation, and healthy development. It can improve sleep, aid digestion, and ease discomforts like gas and colic, while strengthening parent–baby connection and fostering trust.

Conditions treated

Infant massage supports overall well-being and can help with:

  • Colic & Gas: Eases digestion and promotes regular bowel movements.

  • Reflux: Soothes tension and aids digestion.

  • Teething: Relieves facial and gum discomfort.

  • Sleep Issues

  • Congestion & Colds

  • Muscle Tension & Development

Regular massage also strengthens bonding and supports healthy growth.

Best time of day for infant massage

The best time for infant massage is when your baby is calm, alert, and receptive to touch—typically between feedings and naps. Avoid massage when your baby is too hungry, overly tired, or fussy. Many parents find that a gentle massage before bedtime helps soothe their little one, promoting relaxation and better sleep. Observing your baby's cues will help determine the ideal time to incorporate massage into your daily routine.

Contraindications/Precautions

Infant massage is generally safe, but avoid or modify it in these cases:

  • Fever or Illness: Skip massage if your baby is sick or has a fever.

  • Skin Issues: Avoid areas with rashes, wounds, or irritation.

  • Recent Vaccines: Don’t massage the injection site for 48 hours.

  • Medical Conditions: Consult a healthcare provider for underlying issues.

  • Discomfort: If your baby resists, pause and try later.

When unsure, check with a healthcare professional to ensure it's safe.
